Terms and Conditions for The Dance Spot

Welcome to The Dance Spot, a retail store that sells both online and in person. By accessing our website or visiting our physical store, you agree to these terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before using our services.

1. Use of Services

By using our services, you agree to use them for lawful purposes only. You may not use our services to violate any laws or regulations, infringe upon the rights of others, or engage in any conduct that is harmful, offensive, or discriminatory. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason.

2. Product Descriptions

We make every effort to provide accurate and up-to-date information about our products. However, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any product description, pricing, or other information displayed on our website or in our physical store.

3. Ordering and Payment

When you place an order with us, you agree to pay the full price of the product(s) and any associated shipping and handling fees. We accept payment via credit card, debit card, or Bank Transfer. Payment must be made at the time of purchase. If payment is not received, your order may be cancelled.

4. Shipping and Delivery

We make every effort to ship orders as quickly as possible. However, we cannot guarantee a specific delivery date or time. Shipping times may vary depending on your location and the availability of the product(s) you have ordered. We will provide you with a tracking number once your order has shipped. If your order is lost or damaged during shipping, please contact us immediately.

5. Returns and Exchanges

We accept exchanges within 14 days of purchase. There are no refunds for change of mind. Products must be in their original condition and packaging, with all tags attached. Shipping and handling fees are non-refundable. If you would like to exchange a product, please contact us for instructions. In case of a faulty item The Dance Spot abides by the Consumers Guarantees Act and will repair, replace or refund the item at our discretion.  

In the case of printing that is on an item, TDS will not replace in the instances of cracking or peeling of printing if outside the 14 days of purchase. If within the 14 days of purchase  The Dance Spot abides by the Consumers Guarantees Act and will repair, replace or refund the item at our discretion.  

All items with printing applied - we recommend hand wash only and avoid using napisan when washing the items as this can cause the print to come off.

7 Intellectual Property

All content on our website and in our physical store, including text, images, logos, and trademarks, is the property of The Dance Spot and may not be used without our permission.

Costume Hire Terms and Conditions

The Dance Spot – Costume Hire Policy

The terms of hire set out below govern all of the supplies of hire items from Great South Dance Academy Limited (“The Dance Spot”, “TDS”, “we”, “us”) to the customer )”you”, “The Hirer”). They will replace any terms and conditions contained in any document used by you and purporting to have contractual effect, and your acceptance of any hire items from The Dance Spot indicates your acceptance of these terms of trade. These terms of trade are effective January 2025, and replace all previous terms of trade between you and The Dance Spot (if applicable)

By hiring a costume from The Dance Spot, you agree to the following terms and conditions:


1. Hire Period

  • The standard hire period is 7 calendar days, starting from the date of collection.

  • Late returns may incur a charge of $10 per day, unless otherwise arranged in writing.


2. Hire Fees and Bond

  • A $50 refundable bond is required at the time of hire, in addition to the standard hire fee.

  • The bond will be refunded in cash or by bank transfer upon return of all items in good working condition and by the due date.

  • The Dance Spot reserves the right to withhold part or all of the bond to cover the cost of cleaning, repair, or replacement if costumes are returned damaged, excessively soiled, or incomplete.


3. Condition of Costumes

  • Costumes are inspected before hire. Hirers are encouraged to check items upon collection and report any issues immediately.

  • Costumes must not be altered in any way (cutting, dyeing, sewing, etc.) without prior written permission.

  • Costumes should not be washed or cleaned by the hirer. Please return items as-is for professional handling.


4. Loss or Damage

  • The hirer is fully responsible for the costume during the hire period.

  • If a costume is lost or irreparably damaged, the hirer will be liable for the full replacement cost, in addition to forfeiting the bond.


5. Cancellations

  • Cancellations made more than 48 hours prior to the collection date will receive a full refund.

  • Cancellations made within 48 hours may incur a 50% cancellation fee.


6. Pick Up and Return

  • Costumes are to be collected from and returned to:
    The Dance Spot
    15 Porchester Road,
    Papakura, Auckland

  • Returns must be made during The Dance Spot’s standard business hours, by the due date agreed upon at the time of hire.


7. Use of Costumes

  • Costumes must only be used for their intended purpose and treated with care.

  • Costumes may not be sub-hired, loaned, or passed on to another individual without prior written consent from The Dance Spot.


8. Liability and Indemnity

  • The Dance Spot accepts no liability for injuries, allergic reactions, or damage to personal property arising from the use of hired costumes.

  • The hirer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless The Dance Spot from any claims, damages, or losses resulting from the use or misuse of hired items.


9. Cleaning Fees

  • If a costume is returned in a condition requiring extraordinary cleaning (e.g., makeup stains, food spills, odours), a cleaning fee of up to $25 may be deducted from the bond.


10. Security of the Costume

  • Costumes should be stored in a secure, dry, and clean location during the hire period.

  • In case of theft or loss, a police report must be provided, and the hirer is still liable for the full replacement cost unless insurance coverage is demonstrated.
